Sports Nutrition Talk

Breaffy GAA’s Health and Wellbeing team would like to invite all our under 14 to under 18 boys and girls to a sports nutrition talk with expert sports nutritionist Marian McNamara.

The talk takes place in the Breaffy GAA Clubhouse

  • Tuesday, May 2nd at 8.30pm
  • The event is free of charge

Marian McNamara holds an Msc in Sports & Exercise Nutrition; a BA and MA in Education; a BA in Health Management and Contemporary Sports Coaching.

She recently qualified in the field of Sports & Exercise Nutrition and has been involved with football teams and coaching for the past 15 years. Her home club is Islandeady GAA/LGFA where she manages the minor and U16 girls’ teams.

During her studies Marian worked with Clare LGFA and based her thesis research project on their senior ladies team for a period of three months. She has also worked with Swinford ladies and more recently with the Mayo LGFA U14 squad.

Marian is deeply passionate about improving access to nutritional education and support for women in sport.

She is currently in the process of setting up FITrition, a sports and exercise nutrition clinic based in Islandeady/Castlebar.

RUNARY

RUNARY – To help build up the kid’s fitness there will be a weekly session until the end of February. This is for all boys born 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The sessions will take place *every Saturday from Breaffy GAA grounds starting this Saturday from 3pm to 4pm*.

The aim of the sessions is to help the boys maintain and improve their fitness and agility levels. This will enhance their ability to enjoy and participate fully in the Gaelic training and matches when they return. We want as many boys to participate but in particular the boys who are not playing any sports over the winter.
