Breaffy returned to Mayo GAA Senior League action with a hard-fought draw against Westport in Breaffy on Saturday evening. Many of Mayo’s county stars returned to their club’s line-ups on the evening following their exploits with the County team during the summer. Fionn McDonagh lined out at centre forward for Westport, while Rob Hennelly manned the goal for Breaffy, alongside a midfield pairing of Seamus O’Shea and Matthew Ruane. Read more

Breaffy fought back from behind to snatch a dramatic late draw against Claremorris on Saturday night. The home side lead throughout the tie before a last-gasp Tommy O’Reilly goal levelled the scores to earn Breaffy their second draw of this season’s League. O’Reilly broke through at the death and his scuffed shot somehow found its way to goal following some goalmouth pinball. This was to be the last action of the game, with the referee immediately blowing for full-time before the hosts had an opportunity to restart.

Breaffy made a winning start to their 2019 Mayo Senior Championship campaign with victory over a stubborn Davitts side in Ballindine on Saturday evening. A strong second half display from the visitors was ultimately enough to see off the challenge of their South Mayo hosts on a scoreline of 1-10 to 7 points.

It was Breaffy who claimed the bragging rights after overcoming parish rivals Castlebar Mitchels by 9 points in a sun soaked Breaffy on Saturday evening. Breaffy were without the injured Seamie O’Shea and James Minogue, while Castlebar left county panelists Donal Vaughan and the Durcan brothers in reserve.  The game was end to end for the most part with a total of 33 scores.

On December 29th, Breaffy’s senior men’s and women’s teams took to the field in Ballyheane to play two challenge games against ISSC Vancouver. Over 40 Vancouver players and management travelled from all corners of Ireland and from Canada for the games to pay tribute to our great mutual friend and team-mate, David Gavin. Read more

Over Christmas we hosted the first of what will hopefully become an annual Breaffy GAA St. Stephen’s Day fundraising blitz between senior players past and present. Four teams of 11-a-side battled it out over the course of the day to see who would be crowned champions. All funds raised on the day were in support of the David Gavin Fund. Read more
